On September 14, 2010, Guidance Preparatory Academy underwent an assessment by the State of Texas agency that oversees the Texas Rising Star program.  This program is a voluntary certification system which provides graduated levels of certification as schools meet progressively higher certification requirements.

    The Texas Rising Star certification system offers three levels of certification (Two-Star, Three-Star, and Four-Star) to encourage child care providers to attain progressively higher certification requirements leading to a Four-Star level.  The Four-Star certification applies to those schools whose programs represent a superlative level of quality.

    During our assessment, the agency representative spent a full day with us.  She toured our facility, monitored every classroom, and interviewed teachers.  When she left, she took copies of all policies, procedures, training and curriculum to conduct an in-depth review.

    The results of this assessment have arrived.  We are so proud to announce, after our very first assessment, we achieved an immediate certification at the Four-Star level (the highest possible)!  The summary page states, "Ms. Kathy, Ms. Jacquie and I discussed providing additional multicultural items in the interest centers…This is the only suggestion I have because everything else is wonderful!"
