INFANTS & TODDLERS

Long-lasting benefits

GPA offers a loving and nurturing environment for infants as young as six weeks old. These classrooms are specifically designed to provide your child excellent individualized care and safety while also providing a stimulating environment for them to explore and learn. As the children grow and reach each developmental milestones, our teachers are specially trained to evaluate and adjust the lesson plans based on each child’s current stage of development.

Our infants and toddlers are promoted based on the child’s development to ensure appropriate toys and activities are available for each stage. As the infants become toddlers, the lesson plans will begin to include sign language to aid in communication as verbal language skills are being developed. These children will receive a gentle introduction to letters, numbers, colors, shapes, music and art, and before they enter preschool, each child has a basic foundation for entry into the Abeka Book program.

PRESCHOOL

At GPA, we are very proud of the educational foundation the children in our preschool program receive. We use the Abeka Book curriculum, which is a phonics program written and developed at Pensacola Christian College. With this curriculum, preschool children fully learn each letter, including how it sounds and how to write it. They will also learn numbers and the number values while learning to write each number. Colors, shapes and calendar skills are also included in the daily lesson plans, along with saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag.

To ensure your preschooler receives a strong foundation, the children have a daily bible story and lesson. These lessons will reinforce our goals of teaching the children self-confidence and independence, respect for themselves and others, the importance of a sense of responsibility for their own actions and for the well-being of others.

By the end of the preschool years, our students have the necessary skills to succeed in the classroom in Pre-Kindergarten and beyond, and they have developed a love of learning that will last them a lifetime.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN

Using the Abeka Book curriculum, students in Pre-Kindergarten classes at GPA learn to use their skills in phonics to blend letters together and read. Taught by degreed teachers, a strong foundation in reading is the focus this final year before entering Kindergarten. Students will begin with a review of the short vowels, and then move to reading three-letter words. As the year progresses, students will begin to learn the rules for recognizing and reading words with long-vowels, and by the end of the year, will be able to read sentences and stories with one- and two- vowel words.

While the focus is on reading, these students will also have daily assignments to expand their knowledge of number values and concepts and will begin to learn simple addition. They will also have bible lessons and lessons in social studies and science. During this time, the students will learn about the world we live in, our place in this world and how we can help to care for ourselves, others and our world.

At the end of the Pre-Kindergarten year, these students are fully prepared to take the next step in their education and enter Kindergarten. They will take this monumental step into the school-age years with a solid academic foundation firmly in place and a love of learning to last them a lifetime.

AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM

We welcome school-age kids here at GPA! We understand the difficulty of finding quality afterschool care when you're a working family with school-age children. That is why we offer reliable transportation before and after school.

Our school-age program provides team-building sports, such as volleyball and soccer, teacher-assisted homework sessions and a Spanish class 3 days per week.

We also provide character development activities that design a pro-social environment where schoolers can be safe, creative, and foster strong friendships.

Let's not forget, we offer full-day care during early dismissals, holidays, Summer, Spring and Winter breaks.
 SCIENCE
For science we utilize Scott Foresman curriculum, a nationally accredited program used by many school districts.  Beginning in our Threes classes, children learn with fun, engaging activities and age-appropriate science lessons that start them on their way toward success in learning.

This program focuses on both center-based and full class instruction through bright, fun, dry erase ready flip charts, a big book collection with activities, songs, and much more!

SPANISH

We are very excited to officially announce MUZZY as our chosen Spanish curriculum! Children in our Twos through Pre-Kindergarten classes attend Spanish 3 days per week.  Our Afterschoolers also have the option of attending Spanish (at no additional cost to parents.)

MUZZY is an accredited, award-winning program used by public and private schools in all 50 states and 96 countries, including Keller ISD. Muzzy is utilized to teach many languages to children as young as toddlers. Surrounding early learners with visual, oral and contextual language, MUZZY employs a natural immersion approach, modeled on the way we learn our first language. Children are immersed in the new language through a combination of DVD's, audio CD's, teacher-led lessons and activities. The curriculum works without memorization or drills. MUZZY is presented as a continuous story, interspersed with fun videos that review important concepts.
